Well, the weather couldn’t have been better for our return to golf and the course was looking wonderful too.
A particular welcome to our new members. It would be useful for you to pick up a club card giving you reduced prices on food and drink. If using intelligent golf to enter competitions it automatically takes the money from your account and there is access to monitor all you spend. Ig is on the website but an app for the phone costs £1.99. Do pick up a new member’s handbook from the office which gives you a brief idea of what goes on in the club.
For those wishing to pay their 21/22 subscription in full but have not yet done so the office is open 8-12 Monday to Friday so you can phone or pop in and we can take your payment by credit card, debit card, cash or cheque. If you do not wish to continue with your membership please let us know to save us making calls or sending letters. Many thanks.
Fixture books are available : free to new members or £1. The club calendar is available on the website and in BRS. However some members do not have access to the internet. If you know of anyone who would like to purchase a fixture book do ask. Small batches at a time are printed at the club to avoid waste.
When wanting to book on BRS as early as possible two weeks ahead remember that it is from 7am and not midnight any more!
We owe a great thanks to Doug and Arran and the greens committee and some volunteers. There has been some early morning and late evening work putting down of plastic on the greens overnight and it is proving successful in bringing to the surface the leather jackets which are then collected and disposed of. It has proved most successful with no wind and the treatment is due to continue throughout April. If anyone wants to help it would be greatly appreciated. Contact John Thorp [johnthorp47@yahoo.com] or Tom [tmcinnes10@gmail.com].
It was hoped that the annual spraying of the course would take place before golf commenced but this has not been possible. Unfortunately it will affect golf one day in the near future
There is sanitiser spray, paper and a bin in the buggy shed, so please use before using a buggy.
Pete West lost a stainless steel pitch mark repairer, which opens up like a pen knife, last week on the course. It is of great sentimental value to him so if you have found it could you please hand it in to the office
There will be outside catering from Monday 12th April. Staff will be employed from 11 -5 daily with last orders at 4pm allowing them time to clean and tidy before leaving. It will only be table service and members are not to enter the clubhouse. This may involve having to wait a little longer than expected but please be tolerant. It may also help if you pre-order before you play especially if you are expected to finish near to 4pm. For those who enjoy the Tuesday and Friday stablefords, these will recommence on Tuesday 18th May when the clubhouse should be fully open.
You will notice for 12th April new furniture on the patio with the old furniture on the grass at the side. Thanks to Godfrey and his team for renovating it again. This should give use plenty of seating to allow us to keep social distancing.
Could ladies please ensure the outside changing room door is properly closed. There has been a problem with it.
