A belated Happy and Healthy New Year to you all!
We apologise for any inconvenience you suffered with the changes that had to be made very quickly when we moved into tier 4. We had to go to playing in ones and twos and bookings had already been made up to two weeks ahead. Darren and I [Sue] made the initial decisions, but then through email, the whole board was consulted and decisions finalised.
Darren had a problem because he couldn’t just change the timings from 10 to 8 minutes but had to delete pages and restart them. This caused problems. BRS also wasn’t geared up to allowing a second 9 to be played at a shorter time than 2 hours. So please bear this in mind when we are allowed to play again.
Also if you need to get into locker shed the codes are either C2459Y or C4567. It had been noticed that these doors had, on occasion, been left open. You may think this is safer from COVID -19 infection but, again, when we return to playing, please always close the door. We recommend you carry hand sanitiser for your and others’ protection.
The directors had a zoom meeting on Monday 4th, before the government announcement of lockdown. This year has been very difficult for golf clubs. Our golf club has had a few difficult years but we can assure you all that the executive committee has done all it can to improve our financial position, and Steve and Maurice with our internal auditor Peter Pitts, have kept a very close eye on our accounts. We are in a better position than we have been for a number of years and we are confident we can look forward to a successful year when we get back to some sort of normality.
The Directors have regularly been discussing the various options regarding the impact of closing the course due to COVID-19 and membership fees. We have a draft proposal which may need to be changed slightly now due to the latest lockdown. However we will finalise this proposal in February and send an email to members then.
We have been informed that someone was seen playing golf. The temptation may be great but please don’t.
Stay safe
